Banning is well known for its picturesque qualities, nestled between the majestic San Gorgonio and San Jacinto mountains - the two tallest peaks in Southern California. The Banning Police Department's first uniformed Police Department was established in 1913. The Banning Police Department consists of 33 sworn personnel and 12 classified personnel. The Police Department offers a variety of services and assignments such as: Field Patrol, Detective Bureau, Emergency Tactical Unit, Narcotics Task Force, Gang Task Force, Narcotics K-9, Motors, School Resource Officer, Field Training Officer, and Reserve Police Officer Program.
